3D Modeling and Physical Scale Modeling
Objective: design a piece of furniture that inspires joy, using three Formica® materials.
The Nook, a bed frame for toddlers, is inspired by paper sculpture forms and is designed to encourage reading and creativity. It translates dimensional layering of geometry into an architectural form. With inclusions of book storage compartments on both sides of the frame, The Nook brings the joy of reading to any bedroom.
Ideation
For my ideation, I focused on things that brought me joy, such as creativity and reading. I emphasized playful, simple forms that felt unique and uncommon.
Model Making
I created a 1/6 scale model to fully visualize the design and accompanied that with a 3D model on SolidWorks.
